BREED MY DOG
Breed my dog: start with care, then consider a match.
You know what makes your dog special. Before breeding, find out whether it is right for them—and whether you are ready for the responsibilities ahead.
Is breeding right for your dog?
Talk to your vet about age, health, temperament and breeding suitability. Caring for your dog may mean deciding not to breed. If you do proceed, plan for the mother, puppies and possible complications.
Understand breed-specific health tests
Ask your vet which screening and genetic tests are relevant to both dogs. Request original results and help interpreting them: health tests inform decisions but cannot guarantee healthy puppies.
Compare with care
Look beyond appearance and distance. Consider health, pedigree, temperament and the owner’s approach. Take time over the evidence and agree expectations in writing before mating.
